Grove at Indian Creek development offers construction jobs opportunity

HUNTSVILLE – A federally funded housing community will not only provide homes for senior citizens but its construction will help provide local jobs.

Residents are invited to apply for construction jobs under HUD’s Section 3 program as work begins on Grove at Indian Creek, a federally funded, affordable housing development in Huntsville.

The program, administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, prioritizes jobs and training opportunities for individuals with incomes at or below 80% of the area median income. For information, call 256-534-0075, ext. 401.

Neighborhood Concepts, a Huntsville-based nonprofit, is developing Grove at Indian Creek, a 48-unit senior housing community at 7199 New Life Circle in Huntsville. The project will serve residents ages 55 and older as well as individuals with disabilities. It offers apartments to households earning 60% or less of Huntsville’s Area Median Income.

“This project is about more than housing — it’s about investing in our community,” said Neighborhood Concepts’ Executive Director Mary Ellen Judah. “Grove at Indian Creek will create affordable homes and local jobs, helping Huntsville grow in a way that benefits everyone.”

Construction is expected to be completed next fall, with pre-leasing anticipated by mid-year. Grove at Indian Creek will be next to the Cottages at Indian Creek, a similar senior housing development completed by Neighborhood Concepts in 2022.

Neighborhood Concepts has more than 30 years of experience developing affordable housing and expanding economic opportunity.
