Huntsville City is taking on Savannah Clovers in a preseason match at 3:30 p.m. at John Hunt State Championship Park. HCFC is a first-year MLS NEXTPro club and the Clovers are in the National Independent Soccer Association. For tickets, click here.

Head Coach Jack Collison said his team will play an aggressive style with a lot of energy.

“You’re going to see some talented individuals, a lot of energy,” he said. “We’re going to be aggressive and take it to the other team.”

HCFC have had preseason games in Birmingham, Chattanooga, Nashville and Florida. And, so far, Collison is liking what he sees.

“I’m really impressed with the caliber of talent,” he said. “There’s competition all over the pitch. I believe we’re taking steps in the right direction.”

Collison said with the season opener just a couple weeks away (March 26), he’s going to have to start deciding on who is starting 11 will be and who will be released.

“The plus is I’ve got some good quality players,” he said. “The tough is I have to let some go.

“I’m looking for the players who say ‘I’m your guy; I want to be a starting 11.’”

With the players’ “scrapping” for positions, Collison said, he is expecting a really good game Saturday.

“You can feel the energy. It’s growing,” he said. “There’s certainly a real good buzz around the place.

“This is us; this is what we’re bringing.”
