HSV, Breeze offering non-stop flights to Orlando

HUNTSVILLE — There was none of the drama playing out in airports around the country.

Instead, piano music filled the waiting area and refreshments were served at the departure gate Thursday at Huntsville International Airport as Breeze Airways launched its sold-out, inaugural nonstop flight to Orlando.

And, it was topped off with a water cannon salute.

The route will provide North Alabama and southern Tennessee with nonstop flights to the popular destination famous for theme parks and other central Florida attractions.

“Spring Break is a time for the ultimate family getaway, and Breeze’s new service to Orlando is the ideal solution for a fun, family-friendly vacation,” said David Neeleman, Breeze Airways founder and CEO. “With our free family seating and no change or cancellation fees, there’s no better time to make the most of our low fares and get a fresh take on spring travel there, or to Tampa or Las Vegas this April or May.”

Flights operate Sundays and Thursdays through May 14 and switch to Fridays and Mondays beginning May 19.

The new route is available from $49 one way if purchased by Monday for travel between April 4 and May 23.

Passengers on the “seriously nice” carrier can choose from three price bundles that are offered as “Nice,” “Nicer,” and “Nicest.”

Guests also have an a la carte choice of a “Nice” or “Nicer” bundle and add a first class seat. Breeze has ordered 80 new Airbus A220-300 aircraft, with options for 40 more.

Breeze will be flying a new Embraer 195 aircraft and will feature a standard economy seat with a seat pitch of 31 inches. There is also 34 to 39 inches of leg room, depending on the row.

First class seats feature 39 inches of seat pitch, 20.5 inches of seat width, and special features including a footrest and in-seat AC power and USB/C ports.

Breeze doesn’t charge change or cancellation fees up to 15 minutes prior to departure, and offers other benefits such as free family seating and a la carte pricing.

• MX 261 departs HSV at 5:20 p.m. arriving MCO at 7:55 p.m.
• MX 260 departs MCO at 3:55 p.m. arriving HSV at 4:40 p.m.
