CHARLOTTE, N.C. — It was another shootout and another win for Huntsville City FC.

The Boys in Blue picked up a hard-fought 1-1 draw on the road Sunday night against Crown Legacy FC and came away with the extra point after winning their second straight shootout, topping Crown Legacy 4-3.

Huntsville came out sharp in the first half, creating early chances with Gunnar Studenhofft and Alan Carleton both testing the Crown Legacy keeper.

The pressure paid off on a handball call in the box against Crown Legacy on a crossing pass to Christian Koffi. Taking the penalty kick, Koffi stepped up to the spot and coolly converted to put HCFC ahead going into halftime.

Ethan O’Brien added another quality shot on goal before Crown Legacy scored the equalizer.

Neither side could break the deadlock in regular time, sending the contest to penalties where Huntsville converted four of five to seal the shootout victory.

The Boys in Blue (1-1-2-2, 7 points) are back at home Sunday for a special Easter evening clash with Chicago Fire FC at Wicks Family Field.

It’s a Dog Day celebration with adoptable dogs. There will also be an Easter egg hunt, new merch drops, fun games, and new concession items. Kickoff is 6 p.m.
