HUNTSVILLE – Huntsville City Football Club turned toward the southeastern part of the state to find its final preseason opponent to tune up for the 2024 season, and the MLS NEXT Pro squad once again turned to the college ranks to fill the slot.

Huntsville City FC originally planned to play the University of Alabama in Huntsville in its final exhibition, but that changed when the Chargers were added to the inaugural Blastoff Battle to face the Boys in Blue after another professional team pulled out.

Now, Auburn University at Montgomery will face Huntsville City FC on March 9 at Loretta Spencer Soccer Complex in a 2 p.m. match. Huntsville City FC season ticket members will have free access to the final preseason game. Tickets can be purchased here. For season tickets, visit MLSNextPro.com/HuntsvilleCityFC/Tickets or call 256-864-6426, ext. 2.

“We are thrilled to add the Auburn University at Montgomery Warhawks to our preseason schedule in the Rocket City,” said Chad Emerson, Managing Director of Business Operations for Huntsville City FC. “We welcome fans to join us at the John Hunt State Championship Soccer Stadium for one last chance to see the Boys in Blue prepare for the MLS NEXTPro season against one of last season’s Gulf South Conference semifinalists.”

Before the club plays AUM, the Boys in Blue will play a closed-door match Saturday at Wicks Family Field at Joe Davis Stadium against Birmingham Legion. The club will hit the road for a week of training at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. During the trip, Huntsville City will face off with USL Championship’s Tampa Bay Rowdies in a closed-door match Friday. HCFC will also host Atlanta United 2 in a closed-door match March 8.
