HUNTSVILLE — It didn’t seem like it was that long ago when Capshaw Road was a lazy two-lane country road
But as Huntsville expanded its city limits westward to meet a growing population and housing demand, that country lane as become a vital east-west artery.
And, with it, came the headaches of traffic and negotiating a plethora of traffic signals.
To help alleviate the problem for commuters, the city of Huntsville has entered into an agreement with Kimley-Horn and Associates to study six signalized intersections on Capshaw Road.
The study will include six intersections to optimize signal timing and provide layouts of possible intersection improvements to maximize the capacity through each intersection. The Capshaw Road intersections included in the study:
- Jeff Road
- Nance Road
- Wall Triana Highway
- Balch Road
- Sam Thomas Road
- Old Railroad Bed Road
The professional engineering services contract is for $97,500. The completion date of design services is June 28.
