Huntsville Hospital leads state for online job ads

MONTGOMERY — With the high demand for health care professionals, it’s no surprise that two healthcare systems lead the state in online job ads.

According to the Alabama Department of Labor’s Labor Market Information Division, the Huntsville Hospital System had 1,408 online ads in December; the UAB Health System had the second-most with 1,200.

As of last month, the yearly comparison of online job ads is 101,036, up 3.9% from December 2021, the department said. However, the monthly total of online job ads for December 2022 is down 0.5% from November with a decrease of 506 online ads.

Registered nurses led with the most online job ads, followed by retail salespersons; supervisors of retail workers; customer service representatives; and sales reps, wholesale and manufacturing. The Labor Department said there were 15,915 ads placed for those occupations in December.

The data is compiled from all online job postings in the state, including those posted on the state’s free online jobs database, AlabamaWorks.alabama.gov, and other sources, such as traditional job boards, corporate boards, and social media sites, according to a news release.

Twenty-eight percent of job ads have salaries of $75,000 and above; 22% have salaries in the $50,000-75,000 range; 18% have salaries in the $35,000-49,000 range; and 32% have salaries of $35,000 or under.

The rest of the top 10 employers behind Huntsville Hospital and UAB Health System were Walmart/Sam’s (840), University of Alabama at Birmingham (789), Auburn University (592), Baptist Health (562), Regions (540), Brookwood Baptist Health (522), Grandview Medical Center (521), and Walgreen’s (466).
