Huntsville Hospital is now accepting applications for its second annual Nurse Camp, a free, hands-on program designed to introduce high school students to careers in nursing.
According to Huntsville Hospital, the three-day camp will be held June 3–5, 2026, at Huntsville Hospital and Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children. The program is offered in partnership with the Alabama State Nurses Association and is open to students interested in exploring the nursing profession through real-world clinical exposure.
The Nurse Camp allows participants to shadow registered nurses in a variety of hospital settings, including medical, surgical, cardiac and neurologic units at Huntsville Hospital, as well as pediatric and women’s health units at Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children. Students will also take part in learning activities focused on infection prevention, first aid and disaster management.
Huntsville Hospital nursing leadership, Human Resources staff and representatives from local college nursing programs will be on hand throughout the camp to provide career guidance and discuss educational and employment pathways in healthcare.
The program is open to graduating high school seniors in the Class of 2026 and current juniors in the Class of 2027. Applicants must be at least 16 years old by June 3, 2026, and must provide proof of vaccination for measles, mumps and rubella (MMR), varicella (chickenpox), as well as a negative tuberculin skin test.
Applications must be submitted online by April 3, 2026. Interested students can apply online. Additional information is available through Huntsville Hospital, or by contacting the Nurse Camp coordinator at (256) 265-8105.
Huntsville Hospital officials say the camp is intended to give students firsthand insight into nursing at North Alabama’s largest hospital while helping inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals.
