Leaders at Huntsville International Airport are calling on the community to step up in support of local Transportation Security Administration (TSA) employees who continue working despite disruptions to their pay.

In a recent social media post, airport officials said they have received inquiries from residents seeking ways to help TSA staff amid the ongoing DHS shutdown.

In response, the airport is now organizing a gift card donation drive to provide direct assistance to those workers.

According to the post, donated gift cards will be distributed through TSA leadership to ensure they reach employees in need.

To participate, organizers have outlined several guidelines for donations:

– Gift cards must be valued at $20 or less
– Accepted categories include gas, groceries, and restaurants
– Cash and prepaid Visa or Mastercard gift cards will not be accepted

Community members wishing to contribute can drop off donations at the airport’s administrative office, located on the second floor above baggage claim. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Airport officials emphasized their appreciation for the TSA team and the essential role they play in keeping travelers safe, noting that the effort is one way the Huntsville community can show support during a challenging time.
