HUNTSVILLE — Registration for an online reservation system that will allow Huntsville residents to simplify the process of registering for programs and reserving community facilities will be launched Tuesday by the city’s Parks and Recreation Department.
The system will offer benefits for residents and staff. Additionally, beginning on March 1, users who have registered will be able to create and edit family accounts, simplifying the process of signing up multiple members for programs or events.
The online catalog will also feature an easy-to-navigate interface where residents can register for programs and rent facilities, such as pavilions, shelters, and meeting rooms, all from one central location.
“We’re excited to offer this new platform, which should provide significant benefits not only for our residents but also for our staff who process numerous registration forms and reservations each week,” said James Gossett, director of Huntsville Parks & Recreation. “As our department continues to grow and expand its offerings, this system will help streamline our processes and improve the overall experience for everyone involved.”
Gossett further elaborated on the purposes of the online platform.
“It’s really about efficiency, both internally within our apartment and externally,” he said. “In a lot of cases, for the public to register or to rent a room, they have to physically go to a location and fill out there manually. This will allow them to do this online, pay online, and that kind of moves forward as far as how a lot of business transactions are handled.
“We evaluated several available software products. In the end, we felt the one selected was the best option for us.”
