Huntsville Parks & Recreation to honor Women’s History Month at HerPower Walk

HUNTSVILLE – Huntsville Parks & Recreation will take strides Saturday to celebrate Women’s History Month at the second annual HerPower Walk. The event steps off 8:30-11:30 a.m. at Big Spring Park.

The free 5K walk is open to women, girls and the men who support them. It will feature vendors, food trucks with concessions for purchase, uplifting music and, most importantly,  encouragement and empowerment for participants.

“HerPower Walk is an incredible way to honor the women in our community,” said Dorianne Johnson, superintendent of recreation for Community Services. “It’s a chance for us to come together, celebrate their contributions and inspire future generations to keep moving forward.”

Participants will be required to sign a waiver before getting their steps in.

“HerPower Walk is a great way to get involved with Parks & Recreation,” Parks & Recreation Director James Gossett said. “Events like this bring people together, showcase our parks and highlight the ways we serve the community.”
