HUNTSVILLE – The Huntsville Police Department is asking residents for feedback as it pursues reaccreditation through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies.
Residents can share their comments through CALEA’s online public comment portal, which is designed to gather input on HPD’s delivery of public safety services, community engagement, professionalism and overall performance. Comments may include commendations as well as concerns and will be reviewed by CALEA as part of its evaluation.
“HPD strives to meet and exceed CALEA’s accreditation standards,” HPD Chief Kirk Giles said. “Through this process, our department has strengthened its training, improved policies and implemented practices that allow us to better protect and serve the people of Huntsville.”
HPD first earned CALEA accreditation in 1996 and has maintained this status since then. Accreditation is considered the gold standard in public safety, signifying that an agency consistently meets rigorous, nationally recognized best practices in policing.
By providing feedback, residents play a vital role in ensuring HPD continues to uphold the highest standards of service and accountability.
