HUNTSVILLE – An overnight shooting in north Huntsville left four people wounded and the suspect behind bars after struggling with officers, Huntsville police said.

According to HPD, officers responded to a shooting at 708 Poplar Ave. just after midnight  Sunday and encountered a large crowd and found four victims with gunshot wounds.

All four were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses provided information to the officers who quickly located the suspect at an apartment complex near Sparkman Drive.

The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Jarvis Trymane Jamison, became combative with officers, HPD said.

Officers deployed a K-9 unit to assist in taking Jamison into custody. While receiving medical treatment for a dog bite at the hospital, Jamison allegedly spat on an officer.

Jamison was transported to the Madison County Jail and charged with the following offenses:

  • Four counts of first-degree aggravated assault
  • Assault with bodily fluid
  • Harassment
  • Resisting arrest

No further information is available at this time, according to police.
