HUNTSVILLE — To provide a link with U.S. 31, Interstate 65 and Greenbrier Parkway, the city of Huntsville is eyeing a new interchange on I-65.
At Thursday’s City Council meeting, the city approved a study with Skipper Consulting to evaluate a new interchange on the interstate north of the I-565 interchange at Exit 340 and south of Huntsville Brownsferry Road at Exit 347 in Limestone County.
The scope of the project includes traffic analysis and defining a corridor for an east-west connector to I-65. The city said the objective is to provide connectivity between U.S. 31, I-65 and Greenbrier Parkway.
The study, which is expected to be completed by July 2026, will be submitted to the Federal Highway Administration and the Alabama Department of Transportation for review, the city said.
