HUNTSVILLE – In celebration of Bus and Bike Week and Bike to Work Week, Huntsville Transit is offering free Orbit fixed-route bus rides for riders with bicycles this week.

This special promotion, part of Healthy Huntsville’s Huntsville Bike Month, encourages residents to explore eco-friendly transportation options and discover the benefits of combining biking with public transit.

“Whether you’re commuting to work, running errands or just enjoying the outdoors, this is a great opportunity to see how Orbit buses can enhance your journey,” said Quisha Bryant, director of Parking and Public Transportation. “Each Orbit bus is equipped with a front-mounted bike rack, making it easy to transition between pedaling and public transit.”

Bus and Bike Week aligns with national efforts to promote sustainability, reduce traffic congestion and encourage healthy living. The city hopes the free fare week will motivate more people to try cycling and consider using public transit as part of their regular routine.

“Integrating biking with bus riding is not only good for your health but also good for our community,” said Mayor Tommy Battle. “It’s one more way we’re making Huntsville a more connected, accessible and livable city.”

Participants are encouraged to share photos and stories of their bus and bike journeys on social media using the hashtag #BikeHuntsville.
