Dynetics has been awarded a nearly $40.8 million Marine Corps contract modification to manufacture and support medium-range air defense radar systems, with nearly 90% of the work slated for Huntsville.

The Huntsville-based defense and aerospace company will manufacture, deliver and support 14 Medium Range Air Defense Radar production representative model systems under the $40,776,966 agreement.

The contract also calls for Dynetics to retrofit four MRADR prototype systems and four Marine Expeditionary Long Range Persistent Sensor systems.

Additional work includes depot-level technical manual support, program management, engineering changes, logistics and software support.

According to the Department of War contract announcement, 87.5% of the work will be performed in Huntsville, with the remaining 12.5% in Woodlake, California. The work is expected to be completed in August 2028.

More than $35.7 million in Marine Corps procurement and research and development funding from fiscal years 2025 and 2026 was obligated at the time of the award.

The agreement is a follow-on to an earlier prototype effort and was awarded through Marine Corps Systems Command in Quantico, Virginia.

Founded in Huntsville in 1974, Dynetics has grown into a major aerospace and defense operation with a significant presence in Cummings Research Park. The company became a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos in 2020.

Dynetics’ work spans several areas of national defense and space, including radar and sensor systems, hypersonics, advanced manufacturing and space technologies.
