MADISON — Kenneth Jackson has officially launched his campaign for Madison City Council District 7, and he’s focused on neighbors’ widespread vision for a connected, dynamic, and inviting future.
“I’m running because I care deeply about this community,” Jackson said. “I’ve personally knocked 1,500 doors (and counting) since early March, listening intently to what residents want: smoother traffic, thoughtful growth, and government that communicates clearly.”
An experienced statistician, Jackson said infrastructure hasn’t kept up with population, resulting in progressively worse congestion.
However, he said, “We still have the chance for Madison to reflect our shared values — walkable streets, solid schools, and public input that’s truly heard.”
Jackson said he will decline all contributions from corporate interests (such as developers). His goals include modernizing intersections, pacing residential development, and improving the neighborhood parks that families enjoy. He also believes in budgets geared toward long-term financial stability.
“Our best ideas come to light when feedback’s welcomed,” he said. “That’s how we build trust — and make progress together.”
A graduate of Bob Jones High School, Auburn University, and Ohio State, Jackson taught 10th grade mathematics and analyzed data for federal and state agencies.
In 2022, he returned to Madison with his wife (a veterinarian) and their young daughter. Last year, he was appointed to the Beautification and Tree Board and completed the city’s Civic Awareness Academy.
Jackson is hosting a rally July 9 from 6-8 p.m. at 142 Arabian Drive. For information, visit kennethjackson.org.
The election is Aug. 26.
