TONEY — Motorists on Jeff Road in the Toney-Harvest area Madison County will be facing a detour this week for construction of a roundabout.

The Madison County Commission said the intersection of Jeff Road and McKee Road/Will Raby Road will be closed to all traffic for about one week while crews relocate utilities to prepare for the construction of a roundabout.

The intersection will close again once roundabout construction begins in late November.

Detour routes include Jim McLemore Road, Alabama Highway 53, Old Railroad Bed Road, Toney Road, Pulaski Pike, and Bo Howard Road.

Signs are in place to assist motorists. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, allow additional travel time, and expect delays.

Additional utility work will continue in the area following this initial closure, and motorists are urged to use caution when traveling through the work zone once the intersection reopens.
