Job seekers invited to ReLaunch Career Fair

HUNTSVILLE — In the Rocket City, events aren’t opened or started. They are launched.

And, also in typical Huntsville fashion, a career fair hosted by the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce takes it one step further.

After a year’s hiatus, the former Second Chance Job Fair has given way to the ReLaunch Career Fair.

The two-day event is held in cooperation with the local Alabama Career Center, the Alabama Community College System, local nonprofits, and community agencies. It will be at Jemison High School, 5000 Pulaski Pike, from 4-6 p.m. July 18 and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 19. There is no charge for admission and registration is not required.

Like its predecessor, the ReLaunch Career Fair is designed to help bridge the gap between the under-resourced job seeker and employers. The Second Chance Career Fair was held in 2019 and 2020.

The fair will provide opportunities for individuals who are changing careers, unemployed, underemployed, have dropped out of high school, who are not achieving their full potential, or are in need of a second career chance.

There are two prongs to the fair’s mission:

  1. To assist local companies in finding capable workers.
  2. To empower members of the community by improving their quality of life and financial stability.

Employers registered for the fair include Alabama Lawn Masters, Alliance HR, Bocar US, Brasfield & Gorrie, Buffalo Rock, Capital Management Services, Church Street Family Businesses, Faulkner University – Huntsville, FirstLight Home Care, GTEC, Heart of the Valley YMCA, Home Instead Senior Care, Huntsville Hospital, Huntsville Utilities, International Paper Huntsville, JESCO Construction, Kelly Services, Madison County Commission, McDonald’s, Norris Cylinder Co., Phoenix, Port of Huntsville, Reed Maintenance Services, Schwarze Industries, Southland Transportation Group, The Arc of Madison County, UAH, Velox, and Wilson Lumber Co.
