HUNTSVILLE — As fans eagerly await what might arguably be the biggest weekend in Huntsville’s musical entertainment history in years, city leaders and South Star festival officials are keeping an eye on the weather.

Currently, forecasters believe rain from Hurricane Helene will move out of the area by Saturday morning, just in time for the opening performances at John Hunt Park.

“We are monitoring the weather and multiple mitigation efforts are being put in place to assure the park is in good condition for the weekend,” said Sue Marcus of Stunt Company, a music PR firm representing South Star. “We will keep fans aware of anything they need to know via our social media accounts, SMS and our website. The festival is rain or shine.”

Blink-182, Tom Morello, Gwen Stefani, Shinedown, Beck, Ludacris, TLC, Sublime and Goo Goo Dolls top the bill of the two-day event. A complete list of performers can be found here.

Officials are urging attendees to arrive early and practice patience. They expect an average of 20,000 to 22,000 people per day for the event.
