Kimberly Caudle Lewis has announced she will not pursue an appointment to the board of directors of the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) to focus on “representing the people of District 2 with integrity.”

Lewis was nominated to the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) board of directors by President Joe Biden in April, 2021. In January, Lewis announced she is seeking the Democratic nomination for the Alabama State Senate, District 2.

Lewis’ TVA nomination had been awaiting confirmation by the U.S. Senate. Her nomination, as well as hundreds of other President Biden nominations, have been stalled by Senate Republicans.

In a social media post, Lewis wrote, “After careful consideration, I have decided to not pursue an appointment to the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Valley Authority. I am honored to have been nominated, but I want to keep my focus on working hard for economic growth and prosperity for the people of District 2.”

Lewis joins two Republicans in the race, incumbent State Senator Tom Butler (R-Madison) and former State Senator Bill Holtzclaw.
