Kimberly Caudle Lewis is seeking the Democratic nomination for the Alabama State Senate, District 2. Lewis is the chief executive officer and co-founder of PROJECTXYZ, Inc. and is the first minority owner of North Alabama’s only locally owned broadcast television station, WTZT-TV. In 2019, Lewis was elected as the board chair of the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce, the first black female to hold that position.
Speaking to 256 Today, Lewis says, “I’m looking forward to serving the community here as a valued resource to the people of District 2.”
Referencing the 2021 redistricting by the Alabama Legislature, Lewis says it’s time for a change.
“The district lines have changed and I think the representation should also change to reflect the new district,” she states.
Lewis is a life-long resident of Madison County. “I was born and raised in North Alabama and witnessed the tremendous growth,” says Lewis.
“I have invested time and resources to help with the growth,” she continues. “From starting and growing several businesses to supporting the schools and several local organizations. I want to see our community grow and it would be an honor to be elected to represent Senate District 2 in Montgomery.”
According to PROJECTXYT’s website, Lewis serves as a role model, leader, community advocate as well as serving on numerous boards and actively supports several community organizations.
The website says the following of Lewis:
“As CEO, Ms. Lewis has established PROJECTXYZ as a company committed to excellence in providing engineering for Federal customers, logistics, programmatic, and alternative energy solutions for government customers around the world. Today under her leadership, the company has grown to almost 300 employees and has been recognized by Inc. magazine as one of the fastest growing privately held companies in the US. Prior to starting PROJECTXYZ, Ms. Lewis served in several management and leadership roles where she managed large scale technology implementations and projects for Fortune 500 healthcare companies. A Huntsville, Alabama native, Ms. Lewis has a Computer Information Systems degree from John C. Calhoun State Community College and has completed executive and leadership development programs over the course of her career.”
WTZT-TV, formerly owned by Jamie Cooper, is based in Athens. The station prides itself on providing a local perspective, stating on their website, “North Alabama is full of amazing people and locations that we can’t wait to shine the spotlight on. We truly are Local And Loving It!” WTZT-TV airs original programming and classic television shows from the 1950s to the 2000s.
Lewis was recently nominated by President Joe Biden to serve on the board of directors of the Tennessee Valley Authority. The TVA nomination has not been confirmed at this time.
Lewis says they plan to kick off her campaign next week. She joins two Republicans in the race, current State Senator Tom Butler and former State Senator Bill Holtzclaw.
