In celebration of NASA’s Artemis II mission, the Huntsville-connected milestone is getting a space-inspired sweet treat.
Krispy Kreme announced its release of a limited-time Artemis II Doughnut to coincide with the deep space mission powered by the Space Launch System rocket developed in part at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center.
The specialty doughnut is available March 31 through April 2 at participating locations nationwide, offering a themed tribute to the first crewed Artemis mission.
Built on the brand’s Original Glazed® doughnut, the Artemis II Doughnut features blue vanilla-flavored icing, OREO® cookie pieces, white sprinkles, a cookies-and-cream buttercream dollop and a red chevron design inspired by NASA’s iconic logo. The item is also included in an Artemis II Specialty Dozen alongside classic Original Glazed® doughnuts.
“Big moments bring people together, and it doesn’t get much bigger than humans heading back into deep space,” said Alison Holder, Krispy Kreme’s Chief Brand and Product Officer. “We took our iconic Original Glazed® doughnut and gave it a mission-worthy makeover so fans can celebrate Artemis II in a fun, delicious way, right alongside history.”
According to the company, the promotion continues a long-running connection between Krispy Kreme and major space milestones, including doughnuts tied to the Apollo 11 launch, the Perseverance rover landing and NASA’s Artemis I mission.
Artemis II marks NASA’s first crewed flight of the Orion spacecraft atop the Space Launch System, a rocket designed and managed in Huntsville.
The mission has sent four astronauts on a journey around the moon and back, serving as a critical test ahead of future lunar landings.
The mission represents a significant step in NASA’s broader effort to return humans to the moon and establish a sustained presence in deep space — a goal with strong ties to North Alabama’s aerospace industry.
