Local attorneys again receive national distinction

HUNTSVILLE — Local attorneys Stephen Williams and Joshua Holcomb have been named Rising Stars by the law rating service Super Lawyers. Williams and Holcomb are in practice with Foxtrot Family Law.

This was the second consecutive year Holcomb earned the title; Williams has been named a Rising Star each year since 2019.

Although it might seem like business as usual, Williams said it keeps the firm hungry.

“We don’t take it for granted,” he said. “Any kind of recognition creates accountability and motivates us to keep our game sharp when it comes to doing things the right way to serve our clients.

“We wake up every day with a chip on our shoulder. A lot of our clients do, too, so staying hungry comes pretty naturally.”

According to Super Lawyers, only 2.5% of American lawyers are named to its Rising Stars list. The organization selects attorneys using a multi-phase process that relies on peer nominations and reviews combined with independent research.

Each candidate is evaluated on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. Selections are made on an annual, state-by-state basis, the organization said in a news release.

Super Lawyers said it aims to create a comprehensive listing of outstanding attorneys that can be used as a resource for attorneys and consumers searching for legal counsel.

Foxtrot is known for its use of social media – even through the platform TikTok – to provide information on the journey of child custody cases than can often be confusing.

“We call it spreading the gospel,” Williams said. “If it’s good news that you can do something about your situation and it’s good news that you don’t have to do it alone, I think we owe it to our community to let them know about the opportunity.”

Williams said social media provides an opportunity to deliver tips to people where they’re already consuming content on their devices.

“We share tons of free information on our website and provide resources to help co-parents and others experiencing family law issues make every day just a little bit easier, not just their court case,” he said. “We share that same information on social [media] and we know it’s not for everyone, but it’s not supposed to be.

“The people that really need that information and that opportunity to get help have to be able to find it, so we’re pretty shameless when it comes to letting folks know what we do and who we do it for.”

Super Lawyers is a rating service of top-rated lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high level of peer recognition and professional achievement.
