MADISON — Madison City Administrator Steve Smith officially qualified Tuesday to run for mayor, after taking a formal leave of absence Friday.
The municipal election is Aug. 26.
“As Madison’s city administrator, I’ve seen the strength, the heart, and the spirit of our community,” Smith said in a statement. “This city means everything to me — and so do the people who call it home. I’m excited to run for mayor because I believe Madison deserves experienced, steady leadership to keep us moving forward — together.”
Smith, a 31-year resident of Madison, brings civic experience to his candidacy. He served two terms on the Madison City Council, including Finance chair and Council president.
