MADISON – When the fall sports season rolls around next month, Madison residents looking for information will discover “there’s an app for that.”
Following approval Monday by the City Council, the Parks and Recreation Department will soon have a mobile app. The development of the app will be transformative for residents utilizing the city’s recreation programs.
For several months, Madison Parks and Rec has focused much of its efforts on developing a mobile-compatible experience for community members. The Madison Parks and Recreation App is a fully responsive community portal, that will launch soon.
“The community participated in our surveys, and we listened to their needs,” said Parks and Recreation Director Kory Alfred. “Keeping pace with other municipalities, moving our services to an app is a step in the right direction to provide ease of access to Parks and Recreation programming.
“Payments, registration, and schedules can all be accessed from the app.”
During the City Council meeting, Mayor Paul Finley noted his support for ease of access to program sign-up for citizens.
“Keeping the community informed of current programs and league schedules will help residents stay plugged into recreational opportunities,” he said. “We’re excited for the notifications feature to add a layer of accessibility to these city services.”
Desktop users can continue to access registration and program information through Webtrac. The city will roll out the app in September in time for the fall sports season.
