The Madison Police Department is asking the public for help as investigators continue looking into the death of a 54-year-old man whose body was discovered earlier this month.
Police said officers were asked to conduct a welfare check on Scott Hone on July 4. After what officials described as a diligent search, Hone was found dead at a campsite near Madison Boulevard and Westchester Road.
Investigators said they have identified several persons of interest in the case but are not releasing additional details at this time.
Police said the investigation remains active. Death investigations are conducted to determine the circumstances surrounding a sudden, unattended or suspicious death and to establish whether the cause was natural, accidental, suicidal or criminal. If investigators determine foul play was involved, the case transitions into a criminal investigation.
Anyone with information related to Hone’s death is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 53-CRIME or the Madison Police Department.
Police have not disclosed Hone’s cause of death or whether they believe foul play was involved. The investigation remains ongoing.
