Madison seeks military families to ‘celebrate’

Madison Mayor Paul Finley (City of Madison contributed)

MADISON — For the past couple of years since Toyota Field opened, Mayor Paul Finley’s outdoor “State of the City” address has become a pleasant and informative evening for the whole family.

Titled “Celebrate Madison,” the address provides an opportunity for the community to hear about the latest economic updates and growth happening in the Madison community.

The event, Aug. 17 at 6 p.m. presented by Meta, is free to the public.

This year, in partnership with Signalink, the city will recognize three deserving military families representing Active Duty, Veteran/Retired, and a Gold Star Family, at the celebration.

Click here to nominate a deserving military family to be recognized for their contributions to the community. They must live within the Madison city limits. Nominations close July 31.

“We are proud to be the Military Family Sponsor for Celebrate Madison,” said Alice Lessmann, owner with her husband, Steve Lessmann, of Signalink. “As veterans, Steve and I have committed ourselves to honoring the men and women who serve our country.

“Being able to offer our support in any way that highlights their selfless contributions is truly our pleasure.”

Finley said the Madison community is built on the military influence in our region.

“We thank our veterans, active duty service men and women, and the Gold Star families for their sacrifice,” said Finley. “We also thank Signalink for their sponsorship of the Celebrate Madison event, making this recognition possible.

”It is an honor for these military families, who have lived in many cities across the world, to call Madison home.”
