Mastin tabbed new boys basketball coach at Decatur High

DECATUR – Ben Mastin has been named boys basketball head coach at Decatur High School.

He previously was head coach at Danville, where he led the Hawks to a 22-10 record and a Class 3A elite eight appearance in 2023-24. Danville defeated Winfield 49-42 at the Northwest Regional at Wallace-State Hanceville, then fell one game short of the final four after losing to Midfield 54-40.  

Mastin also served as head coach at Addison and was an assistant at Deshler.

He replaces Kori Walker, who is now head coach at Athens. He was at the helm in Decatur for four seasons. He replaced former Golden Eagles coach Danny Anderson.
