Missing in action: Space Command a no-show at SMD Symposium

HUNTSVILLE — What does Space Command have against Huntsville?

Last week, it was announced the Space Command was not moving to Redstone Arsenal.

This week, the command’s booth was unmanned at the Space & Missile Defense Symposium at Huntsville – the pre-eminent event for the nation’s space and missile defense industry.

“It’s disappointing to see an empty booth labeled ‘United States Space Command’ at the SMD.” said U.S. Rep. Dale Strong (R-Monrovia). “Huntsville plays a vital role in our nation’s defense, and no matter where the fight for Space Command Headquarters currently stands— I believe General Dickinson owes Huntsville the common courtesy of either showing up to the symposium as planned or sending a representative in his place.”

According to Bob English, the media coordinator for the annual event, Space Command cancelled two weeks ago because they couldn’t man their booth.
