Mr. Electric gets a jolt with facility near MidCity

HUNTSVILLE — Sparks flew last week when Mr. Electric of Huntsville broke ground on a nearly 18,000 square-foot office building and warehouse in west Huntsville.

The new building, which is part of the third phase of the new Brockway Farms development on Oakwood Road, includes 10,667 square feet of office space and 7,000 square feet for a warehouse.

Keith Pinkerton, Huntsville native and Mr. Electric owner, operates Mr. Electric locations in Birmingham, Montgomery, Auburn, Chattanooga and Murfreesboro, Tenn.

The combined markets make Pinkerton’s Mr. Electric franchise the largest operation in the United States.

“I can still remember when I was just a single electrician with a truck,” said Pinkerton, “I’m so proud of the team we’ve pulled together — not just here in Huntsville where we started, but in all our markets.”

Locally, Mr. Electric of Huntsville employs 48 people with 29 employees across its other markets.

“I attribute our growth and success to those hardworking team members,” Pinkerton said. “We wouldn’t be here, breaking ground on our own building, otherwise.”

Pinkerton hopes to have the project completed by the first quarter of 2024. Huntsville-based Brown O’Dell Architects designed the facility. Wallace Construction is the general contractor.
