NCDMM unifies brand identity with strategic rebranding of Huntsville-based AMIIC

HUNTSVILLE – The name may be changed but the mission remains the same.

In a rebranding initiative, the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation and Integration Center (AMIIC) in Huntsville is now known as the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM) in Huntsville, it was announced this week.

The change is part of a broader effort to streamline NCDMM’s brand portfolio, strengthen communications, and solidify the organization’s position as a national leader in advanced manufacturing innovation and workforce development, NCDMM said in a news release.

By sunsetting the AMIIC name and rebranding as NCDMM in Huntsville, the organization said it is aligning its regional operations with a nationally recognized brand that is trusted across the U.S. defense and manufacturing sectors.

The Huntsville team will continue delivering critical workforce education, training, and advanced manufacturing solutions, now with even stronger integration into NCDMM’s expansive network and national mission.

NCDMM said the rebranding enhances its ability to communicate its impact more clearly, reduces confusion across audiences, and amplifies the reach of strategic partnerships, including its continued collaboration with Redstone Arsenal and broader support for north Alabama’s defense and innovation ecosystem.

“Our brand is a powerful tool,” said CEO Gary Fleegle. “By consolidating AMIIC under the NCDMM name, we’re clarifying who we are and what we do, both for our partners in Huntsville and across the country.

“This change reflects our commitment to unified excellence, while reinforcing our deep roots in the regions we serve.”

This branding evolution includes phasing out the AMIIC sub-brand and presenting America Makes and El Paso Makes as key programs managed by NCDMM, the release said. All locations will now be identified by city, for example, NCDMM in Johnstown and NCDMM in Huntsville.

Updates to digital platforms, marketing materials, building signage, and partner communications have begun and will continue to ensure a smooth and consistent rollout, NCDMM said.

In alignment with the refresh, NCDMM has also launched a redesigned website that delivers a more user-friendly, accessible experience, including an impact video that can be viewed here.

The upgraded platform offers:

  • Improved navigation and search tools for quick access to programs, services, and technical insights.
  • A modern design and streamlined content that reflects NCDMM’s forward-leaning mission.
  • Enhanced Alliance Partner access via a centralized portal for collaboration and resource sharing.
  • Greater transparency into ongoing projects and opportunities to engage with NCDMM’s nationwide efforts.

“With seven locations supporting diverse initiatives, our digital presence plays a vital role in strengthening relationships and delivering timely, relevant information,” said Jim Fisher, Chief Operating Officer of NCDMM. “The refreshed website and brand identity position us to better serve our stakeholders and scale our impact.”
