NEW YORK — A Netflix documentary portraying the infamous escape of Casey White with the assistance of jail official Vicky White from the Lauderdale County Detention Center is set to release next week.

“Jailbreak: Love on the Run” will be shown Sept. 25. The roughly 90-minute film goes into detail about the forbidden romance between the two, their life on the run, and the police chase that ended in Vicky shooting herself and Casey being taken into custody.

In the documentary, staff and inmates said Vicky was trusted and beloved by many before the escape.

“She treated everybody like they were somebody,” said former Lauderdale County Detention Center resident Tyler Purser in the documentary. “She was like [the] mother … that everybody in there never had growing up.”
