In case you missed it, the Alabama Chapter of the Aerospace States Association held its annual “Aerospace Day at the Capitol” February 23 at the RSA Activity Center in Montgomery.
Headlined by Jody Singer, director of Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC), Alabama’s aerospace industry was on display with officials talking about the many aerospace companies already in Alabama and what they bring to the state while putting the focus on what state leaders can do to expand, support, and retain aerospace industries in Alabama.
The newest addition to the festivities is the 2022 Alabama Aerospace Association Internship program for students statewide. The program will run for two weeks this summer, giving students time to experience what it’s like to work in various facets of the aerospace industry.
Designed for high school and college students interested in pursuing careers in the aerospace industry, all students pursuing STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and related fields qualify and should apply.
As part of the internship, students spend time at various aerospace facilities where they have a chance to meet the best and the brightest in the aerospace industry, participate in hands-on activities, and get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at what each company does and some of the exciting projects they are working on.
Student applicants will require a brief biography of their background and career aspirations.
Selection will be based on interest and availability,
More than a dozen companies and organizations are participating in the 2022 Internship Program, including the National Space Club Huntsville, United Launch Alliance, Lockheed Martin Space, US Army Space and Missile Defense Command, Aerojet Rocketdyne, Raytheon, Jacobs, Moog, Revolution Flight School, U.S. Space & Rocket Center, iGiant / 100 Year Starship, J.F.
