North Alabama GOP lawmakers endorse Gov. Kay Ivey’s reelection bid

Monday, Gov. Kay Ivey’s reelection campaign announced that it had landed endorsements from nine additional North Alabama Republican legislators.

The following lawmakers endorsed Ivey’s reelection campaign:

  • State Sen. Garlan Gudger (R-Cullman)
  • State Sen. Steve Livingston (R-Scottsboro)
  • State Sen. Andrew Jones (R-Centre)
  • State Sen. Arthur Orr (R-Decatur)
  • State Rep. Scott Stadthagen (R-Hartselle)
  • State Rep. Randall Shedd (R-Cullman)
  • State Rep. Kerry Rich (R-Albertville)
  • State Rep. Wes Kitchens (R-Arab)
  • State Rep. David Standridge (R-Hayden)

In announcing the latest round of legislative endorsements her reelection campaign had received, Ivey highlighted her administration’s first term accomplishments.

“I’m honored to receive the endorsements of these great members of the Alabama legislature. They work tirelessly to represent their districts, and I appreciate their support,” stated Ivey in a release. “Together, we’re delivering results to hard-working Alabamians and are standing up for the Christian, conservative values that made our country great. We have created over 50,000 new jobs, over $25,000 in new business investment and have the lowest unemployment rate in the history of our state. For 16 consecutive months, we have had the lowest unemployment rate in the entire Southeast. That is something we should all be proud of.”

Ivey noted the conservative policy victories her administration and the Alabama Legislature had compiled and vowed that she would continue to combat the “radical left.”

“Despite the Biden Administration’s failures and the radical left, which seems to be getting crazier and crazier each and every day – we’re standing strong and defending our Alabama values,” she continued. “We’ve put into law the strongest pro-life bill in the nation, banned transgender sports, made it illegal for doctors to give minors puberty blockers and hormones for transgender treatments and we have stopped Biden’s vaccine mandates dead in their tracks.”

The governor concluded, “While I’m proud of our long list of conservative accomplishments – there is still more to be done and more battles against the radical left that will need to be fought. We won’t back down and we will meet these challenges head on, because to keep Alabama thriving, it will take all of us, working together, and trusting in the Lord as we lay the groundwork for a brighter future for our state.”

Ivey campaign manager William Califf extended gratitude to the Republican lawmakers for their support of the governor’s bid for a second term.

“I appreciate these Republican legislators and their support for Governor Ivey. With the lowest unemployment rate in state history, one of the best business climates in the entire nation and significant infrastructure developments to support our booming economy, Kay Ivey is proving the Alabama drive is relentless,” said Califf. Unlike Biden and blue-state liberals, Governor Ivey and the Republican legislature understand what it takes to uphold the America-first policies that make Alabama an economic and industrial leader that stands for strong, conservative values.”

Earlier this month, Ivey scored the endorsements of 10 Tennessee Valley legislators. Senate President Pro Tem Greg Reed (R-Jasper) last week announced his support of the incumbent governor’s reelection campaign.
