HUNTSVILLE – With courses ranging from studying J.R.R. Tolkien to beginning ukelele and a timely “Trends in Presidential Election,” the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Alabama in Huntsville is ready for a new semester of teaching.
The program will hold an open house Jan 5 from 10 a.m. to noon in the lobby of Wilson Hall. Classes start Jan. 29 and run through the first week of May. OLLI is open to ages 50 and up.
“Spring brings another semester full of fun, fellowship, and the pursuit of wisdom and new skills,” said Clay Williams, OLLI at UAH program manager. “We are excited to offer plenty of past favorites as well as some new courses such as ‘An Introduction to J.R.R. Tolkien,’ ‘Beginning Ukulele,’ ‘What Makes Computers Tick’ and ‘Trends in Presidential Elections.’
“Whether your interest is history, literature, computers, fitness or music, we have something for everyone.”
OLLI staff, instructors and members of the curriculum committee will be at the open house. Visitors can check out the facilities, and find out more about the 70 courses on the spring schedule. New and returning members can pick up their UAH parking permit at the event. There will be door prizes, too.
