256 Today is proud to present the Our Town Podcast. Check here every week for the latest episode from Troy Bye, North Alabama’s newest favorite son.
The Our Town Podcast showcases all that is good in North Alabama. Each week guests are invited from business, sports, entertainment, education, the arts, and so much more to discuss all aspects of living and working in The 256.
Each of us has a story and each of us grew out of a circumstance.
Nadia Niakossary is a Huntsville native whose family has been integral to the area for decades.
Nadia takes me on her journey from tripling her high school graduation money in a creative way, studying at Auburn, cutting her teeth in event-planning in the Windy City, and her meteoric rise within the RCP Companies to now as senior director of development. Nadia’s and RCP’s portfolio of success in transforming Huntsville’s MidCity District is nothing short of impressive with the creation of The Camp, recruiting and courting Trader Joe’s, and the incredible story of the music audit leading to the smash hit-equivalent success of the building of the Orion Amphitheater.
Nadia is the middle child of three and very proud of her Persian roots. In fact, Nadia worked to have Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle sign a proclamation to have March 20 officially recognized as Nowruz in Huntsville each year. Nowruz (pronounced No-Rooz) is observed each year at the start of spring and signifies the Persian New Year, making the Persian calendar the most accurate in the world.
