Parkway Place provides sensory-friendly Easter Bunny environment

HUNTSVILLE — Children with special needs, especially those on the autism spectrum, often struggle with changes in holiday routines and environment. Holiday-related foods and decorations and even Easter egg hunts can lead to sensory overload, a common trigger for outbursts.

Many parents simply avoid the stress by not taking their children to visit Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny, especially in noisy or crowded environments.

But Parkway Place has Easter Bunny Cares, a sensory-friendly opportunity for children with all spectrums of special needs to enjoy the Easter Bunny experience in a calming environment prior to public hours.

From 9:30-11 a.m. Sunday, families can visit sensory stations, provided by The Riley School, at nearby tables until it’s their turn to individually visit with the Bunny.

The Easter Bunny brings smiles to kids and families and now through this special opportunity, children with special needs can enjoy the same happy activity.

Easter Bunny Cares visits are free and photo packages are available for purchase during the event.
