HUNTSVILLE — Continuing its commitment to preserving North Alabama’s natural landscapes, the Land Trust of North Alabama has acquired property on the peak of Drake Mountain in Huntsville.

The 21-acre parcel at the mountain’s peak, north of Hampton Cove and south of Ripple Lane, was a key conservation priority, the Land Trust said in a news release.

“The acquisition represents another success in the organization’s broader efforts to conserve the natural beauty of Drake Mountain,” the release said.

Its strategic location, adjacent to Land Trust property atop the mountain, makes it an essential addition to the growing network of protected lands in the region.

The Land Trust said the Elaine Miller Woodling Tract boasts native habitat with minimal invasive species and presents promising opportunities for non-motorized recreation.

By securing this property, the Land Trust continues to protect wildlife corridors and provide recreational opportunities for future generations.
