Pylant announces campaign for Huntsville City Council District 4

HUNTSVILLE — Attorney and small business owner Will Pylant has launched his campaign for Huntsville City Council District 4, pledging to bring a new generation of leadership focused on infrastructure, education, and quality of life.

Pylant, a lifelong Huntsville resident and owner of Pylant Estate Law, said his campaign centers on ensuring that the city’s rapid growth is guided by vision and grounded in practical improvements that matter to residents.

“Huntsville is booming — we’re now the largest city in Alabama, and that’s something to be proud of,” said Pylant. “But when a city grows this fast, we have to make sure our infrastructure, schools, and neighborhoods keep pace.

“Growth without direction just creates sprawl. Growth with vision creates a community.”

Pylant reported $53,667.62 cash on hand as of Oct. 25.

“Our strong fundraising numbers show that the community is excited about the possibility of a new voice,” he said. “As the city grows, leadership should grow with it.”

City Council member Bill Kling is running for reelection to the District 4 seat.

The election for Huntsville City Council Districts 2, 3, and 4 will be Aug. 25, 2026. District  4 includes downtown, the Medical District, Piedmont, part of Jones Valley, Lowe Mill, UAH and the Merrimack Mill area.

Pylant said his top priorities include securing funding for major roadway projects, particularly the I-565 and Memorial Parkway interchange, improving neighborhood infrastructure, and continuing to make Huntsville a city that’s “good to do business in.”

He supports expanding online city services, promoting small business growth, and growing the local economy in industries that complement the defense and engineering base such as biotech, research, and artificial intelligence.

A graduate of Huntsville City Schools and former president of the Huntsville Young Lawyers, Pylant emphasized the importance of education and family-centered policies as key to Huntsville’s continued success.

“When companies look to relocate here, one of the first things they look at is our schools,” he said. “As a product of Huntsville City Schools myself, I want to ensure that every student has a safe and supportive learning environment that prepares them for the future.”

On quality of life, Pylant is advocating for restoring aging ballparks, expanding sidewalks, and a pilot program to bury power lines which would improve reliability and reduce long-term maintenance costs.

“As Huntsville continues to grow, we have to make sure our commitment to public safety grows with it,” he said. “That means supporting the men and women who keep our neighborhoods safe — from police officers and firefighters to mental health response teams — and ensuring they have the tools, training, and staffing they need to do their jobs effectively.

“A safe city is the foundation for everything else we want to build.”

Pylant lives in the Medical District with his wife, Jaz, and their young daughter, Abby.

“This is my hometown. I’m not going anywhere,” he said. “I’m raising a family here, building a business here, and planning to grow here. Let’s match Huntsville’s growth with vision.

“Let’s bring new energy to District 4 — and let’s build something together.”
