Raytheon awarded $99M contract from Missile Defense Agency

HUNTSVILLE — Raytheon Technologies has been awarded a noncompetitive firm-fixed-price contract from the Missile Defense Agency valued at $99 million.

According to the contract, Raytheon will procure and deliver SM-3 Block IB parts that are manufactured, assembled, and tested in accordance with the SM-3 Block IB specifications.

The SM-3 Block IB is used to destroy short- and medium-range ballistic missiles. Last April, the SM-3 countered missile attacks on Israel from Iran.

The work will be performed in Huntsville and Tucson, Ariz., with an expected completion date of March 31, 2026.

Raytheon has invested more than $115 million to secure a nearly 67% capacity increase for final integration of all of its Standard Missile all-up rounds at a factory expansion in Huntsville, according to Defense News. The expansion is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
