ATHENS — It’ll be a bang up Fourth of July in Athens!

As darkness falls over Athens, the sky will burst with brilliant colors and glisten with sparkling streamers in the Red, White & Boom! fireworks show.

The annual fireworks display blasts off at 8 p.m. in the Athens Football Stadium on U.S. 31.

Due to safety issues, seating inside the stadium is not available. But the spectacle can be viewed from around the area, including Central Church of Christ, Athens Shopping Center with Cultivate Church, Athens Middle School, Athens High School, Athens SportsPlex, and Swan Creek Park.

Following the show, the Athens Police Department will be controlling the flow of traffic on U.S. 31 that may require detours. Motorists are asked to plan accordingly and have patience as the area empties.

The event is sponsored by Athens-Limestone County Tourism Association, City of Athens, Limestone County Commissioners and Redstone Federal Credit Union.
