HUNTSVILLE — With the government shutdown affecting thousands of people who work on Redstone Arsenal, Team Redstone issued an information list of services.
- Directorate of Emergency Services (Gates)
For Thursday and Friday, all gates will run as normal. Based on traffic volume, and the duration of the shutdown, future gate changes (next week timeframe) remain a possibility, and we are watching this.
All routine police, fire, and guard operations are currently unaffected, with no impact from furlough.
Law Enforcement Administration, however, will be furloughed, which will delay copies of police reports, etc. - Directorate of Human Resources (DHR)
The One Stop’s ID Card Section will remain fully functional with requisite government oversite and facility access provided. It will be by appointment only Monday – Thursday, with Walk-ins only on Friday. Appointments can be scheduled at: https://rsappts.cxmflow.com/
The Alabama Department of Motor Vehicles (a state entity) will run as normal Tuesday – Thursday.
One Stop provided Housing, Workforce Development, Retirement Services, Orders, and PCS processing will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Non-Exempted (Furloughed) employees performing those functions may then be activated as needed, in support of mission essential requirements. - Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR)
No DFMWR programs are affected by the government shutdown, except for Army Community Service (ACS) which will close.
Outdoor Rec, Auto Skills, Java Café, golf course, bowling, bingo, post restaurants, flying, indoor pool, gyms, library, venues (Summit, etc.) and child care centers will be open and fully operational.
Hours of operation for MWR programs will be reconsidered next week if the furlough runs longer.
Beneficiaries (Soldiers/retirees) in need of Army Emergency Relief can make requests through the AER Portal located at: https://aerprod.powerappsportals.us/.
The New Parent Support Morning Play Group, is run by contract, and will continue at Child Wise on Tuesdays and Thursdays. - Directorate of Public Works (DPW)
DPW will be at minimum manning but Akima, Phoenix, and JOC contract work is unaffected. - Religious Support Office (RSO)
Civilian support to RSO will be furloughed, but otherwise no impact to Chapel operations or services this week or weekend. Any reassessment would take place next week. - Fox Army Health Center
Fully operational as usual, to the extent of current supply stocks (medical/pharmacy) and funding holds. As (if) furlough continues, this will require relooking in coming days. Vet clinic remains closed but this is unrelated to furlough. - AAFES/DECA
No impact to PX/Commissary in the short term. If the impacts go longer in duration, with added reductions to on-post personnel, the Martin Road Shopette might adjust next week. - Food Trucks
The AAFES food trucks that come to various buildings will not return to post during a furlough. However, the NASA food truck corral on the corner of Martin and Rideout roads will operate as normal as long as there are customers. They could reassess.
