Road closures scheduled for Norfolk Southern railroad crossing repairs

HUNTSVILLE — Norfolk Southern Railroad has scheduled several railroad crossing repairs to start this week across Madison County.

The repairs will require roads to be closed to through traffic, but these closures should not last longer than one day.

The work will be in Huntsville, Gurley and Madison County.

Because train traffic and weather can change, the dates may be adjusted.

Temporary traffic control will be in place at each location.

  • Monday
    Moores Mill Road between U.S. 72 and Stanwood Boulevard in the city of Huntsville
  • Tuesday
    Oakwood Avenue between Meridian Street and I-565 ramps in the city of Huntsville
    Meridian Street between Pratt Avenue and Beirne Avenue in the city of Huntsville
    Pratt Avenue between Washington Street and Meridian Street in the city of Huntsville
    Cleveland Avenue between Church Street and Meridian Street in the city of Huntsville
  • Wednesday
    Gurley Pike between Section Line Road and Gate Street in the town of Gurley
    Stone Drive between U.S. 72 and Hayes Drive in Madison County
    Holmes Avenue between Pulaski Pike and Woodson Street in the city of Huntsville
  • Thursday
    Ryland Pike between Jordan Road and Dug Hill Road in Madison County
  • Sept. 29
    Slaughter Road between Madison Boulevard and Old Madison Pike
    Bibb Garrett Road between Airport Road and Mooresville Road in the city of Huntsville
