Road to Conference USA championships runs through Huntsville

DALLAS – Conference USA recently finalized the remaining locations for the 2025-26 championship schedule and trophies will be raised in the Rocket City.

“We are excited to build upon our partnership with Conference USA this year with not only the basketball championships, but the cross country as well,” said Joel Lamp, sports development manager for the Huntsville/Madison County Convention & Visitors Bureau. “Bringing these events and the broadcast coverage that they provide enables us to showcase Huntsville in a different light to new markets.”

The 2026 CUSA Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships return to Huntsville for a third year at the Von Braun Center’s Propst Arena on March 10-14. Tickets are available at the VBC box office and on Ticketmaster.com.

And, the league’s first championship events of the 2025-26 season will also be decided in Huntsville.

The 2025 CUSA Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships will be Nov. 1 at the John Hunt Park Cross Country Course. The championship-caliber course has a rich history of hosting high school and collegiate events. Middle Tennessee State University is designated as the host institution.

“Huntsville has built a strong partnership with Conference USA, and we are always looking for new ways to strengthen that relationship,” said Mark Russell, executive director of the Huntsville Sports Commission. “After successfully hosting the Conference USA Basketball Tournament, we believe the Cross-Country Championship is another excellent fit for Huntsville.

“Coach (Keith) Vroman and the Blue Raiders are already familiar with our facilities, having competed at John Hunt Park several times in the past, and we look forward to welcoming them and all participating teams to the Rocket City.”

Liberty and MTSU are each slated to host a pair of on-campus championship events with the CUSA Women’s Soccer and Indoor Track & Field Championships heading to Lynchburg, Va., while the CUSA Tennis and Outdoor Track & Field Championships will take place in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

A trio of neutral site spring events will return to familiar spots as the CUSA Men’s Golf Championship heads to Texarkana CC in Texarkana, Ark., the home of the event since 2015. The CUSA Bowling Championship will be held at the Colonial Lanes in Harahan, La., for a third-straight season and the CUSA Beach Volleyball Championship will occupy Sugar Beach in Youngsville, La., for a third consecutive year.

The CUSA Women’s Golf Championship has found a new home at Stonebriar Country Club in Frisco, Texas.

Three more universities will serve as first-time hosts of their respective championships in FIU (Volleyball), Delaware (Softball) and Kennesaw State (Baseball).

The 2025 CUSA Football Championship, which has been hosted by three schools in as many years, will be played at the school with the highest winning percentage in league play.
