GUNTERSVILLE — In a special GOP special primary runoff where every vote truly counted Tuesday, Jeana Ross defeated Alan Miller to win the Alabama House District 27 seat.
Ross, a former Alabama Secretary of Early Childhood Education, collected 1,611 votes for 53.31% in the unofficial results. Miller, an Arab city councilman, received 1,411 votes (46.49%).
The seat in Alabama House District 27 became vacant when former State Rep. Wes Kitchens was elected to the Alabama Senate in January.
The district encompasses most of Marshall County, including Arab, Guntersville, Union Grove and Grant.
“Jeana Ross has proven herself as a steadfast advocate for conservative Republican principles and a tireless advocate for the people of Marshall County,” said GOP State Party Chair John Wahl. “Her track record of success and dedication to our conservative values make her the ideal person to fill this position in the Legislature.
“We are confident that Jeana will serve with integrity, passion, and determination, and we congratulate her on her victory today.”
