HUNTSVILLE – The red kettles are heating up as the Salvation Army of Huntsville prepares to grow with Claudia Bucher as director of development.

Bucher, who starts Monday, will be responsible for the overall regional financial development and public relations planning, and she will be responsible to helping Sally Ann increase their visibility and build more awareness as they continue to provide critical needs to the community.

The 2021 Madison Chamber of Commerce Community Servant Leader of the Year, she is a familiar face among Huntsville’s nonprofit leaders and fundraising community.

Bucher comes to the Salvation Army from the United Way of Madison County where she was director of Resource Development. She has more than 30 years of involvement with community organizations such as the Madison/Marshall County American Red Cross, Ability Plus and the EarlyWorks family of museums.

She is also involved in Huntsville Rotary, the Women’s Economic Development Council, Crestwood Medical Center’s Women’s Advisory Council, and is on the board of Decatur’s Veterinary Clinical Research Hospital.
