Scammer posing as solar contractor contacting Huntsville Utilities customers

HUNTSVILLE — Huntsville Utilities has been informed of a scam tactic targeting customers.

The scammer claims to be with Huntsville Utilities and offers to install solar panels on your home, reducing your bill to $35. At this point, the scammer begins asking for personal financial and home ownership information.

If you receive such a call, hang up immediately. This call is a scam attempt to get personal information.

The calls have been coming from a Pennsylvania area code (570), but they may also attempt to spoof other numbers.

If you believe you have been the victim of a scam, contact your financial institutions and local law enforcement immediately.
