The event is hosted by the Rocket City Artemis II Community Planning Committee, Teledyne Brown Engineering, and Downtown Huntsville Inc.

The trail honors Huntsville’s space legacy with a fun and educational search throughout downtown.

“Huntsville has been intertwined with space exploration for more than seventy years, and the Secret Artemis II Trail is a creative way to celebrate that legacy while inspiring the next generation,” said Ron Poteat, interim CEO of Downtown Huntsville Inc. “By bringing space-themed art into our streets, and public spaces, we’re reminding our community that Huntsville’s role in reaching for the stars doesn’t just live inside laboratories and launch pads, it lives in our downtown, our small businesses, and our local artists.

“This relaunch is about honoring where we’ve been as a spacefaring city and doubling down on our commitment to be part of where humanity is going next.”

Visitors are invited to go on a mission to find 10 one-foot-tall Artemis rocket models that have been hidden around the city center, waiting to be discovered.

Participants can begin their adventure by picking up a trail card at the Downtown Huntsville Inc. office or the Huntsville/Madison County Convention & Visitors Bureau.

When explorers find all the Artemis rockets, they can follow the directions on the back of the trail card to receive an official Artemis II sticker!

To celebrate the relaunch of the Artemis II mission, the community is invited to a special gathering Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the Mayor’s Tinsel Trail Tree in Big Spring Park West (Located on the attached map with the letter “M” and the DHI logo).

The event will feature remarks from Poteat, Mayor Tommy Battle, Madison County Commission Chairman Mac McCutcheon, and Marshall Space Flight Center interim Director Rae Ann Meyer.
