MOORESVILLE – Singing River Trail is steering its focus toward smoother rides for cyclists in North Alabama.
Today marks this year’s Giving Tuesday and Trail officials are asking the community to come together two help install two bike fixing stations at the Decatur/Rhodes Ferry and Huntsville/Ditto Landing trails.
Giving Tuesday, a worldwide day of charitable giving, encourages philanthropy and celebrates generosity around the world. Through its 2023 Giving Tuesday campaign, SRT hopes to create and improve transportation opportunities in Decatur and Huntsville.
“When you support the installation of these stations along our trails, you are helping more than just cyclists. We are creating an inclusive environment for the whole community,” said John Kvach, Singing River Trail executive director. “This is just the beginning in delivering diverse transportation access to families, commuters, and visitors.”
The bike fixing stations will serve as hubs where cyclists can conveniently make minor repairs to their bikes. By providing free public access to these stations, cyclists can enjoy safer rides along the trail.
Individuals can contribute to this initiative by participating in the Giving Tuesday campaign and donating funds to either trailhead.
SRT is matching donations up to $1,000 per bike fixing station through November 28, 2023. To donate, visit the Giving Tuesday campaign.
